N. Platte Basin snowmelt forecast above average

Above average snowpack in the mountains of Wyoming has increased the snowmelt runoff forecast for the North Platte River Basin. Bureau of Reclamation Wyoming Area Manager Coleman Smith says the March first forecast indicates runoff will be 11 percent above average. Total April July runoff above Glendo Dam is expected to be 985 thousand acre foot. Approximately 800- thousand acre foot of runoff is expected to enter Seminoe Reservoir

Smith says the water in storage for delivery to North Platte contractors is nearly 283 thousand acre foot or 47percent of average. Total storage for the North Platte Reservoir System is at 1.1 million acre foot, 73 percent of average.

Reclamation will update inflow forecasts in April and May.
