Delmar L. Settles, 87, Gering
Delmar L. Settles, 87, of Gering, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013, at The Residency Care Center in Scottsbluff.
His funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Gering Memorial Chapel in Gering with Pastor Ted Thode officiating. Cremation will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory.
Friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Gering Memorial Chapel. A memorial has been established to Prairie Haven Hospice. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.geringchapel.com
Delmar was born September 1, 1925, at Gering, Nebraska to Steve and Clara (Naylor) Settles. He graduated from the Valentine High School in 1943. He served in the United States Army from March 9, 1946 to September 12, 1947.
On September 22, 1946, he married Alice Pedersen, at Federated Church in Mitchell. He was employed at Great Western Sugar as a master mechanic for 20 years.
Delmar was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Scottsbluff. He enjoyed reading, listening to music, and morning walks with his wife, Alice.
Survivors include his wife, Alice; daughter, Kathryn (Richard) Kindl of Iowa City, Iowa; sons, Bryan (Sherry) Settles of Lamar, Colorado, and Allen Settles of North Platte; grandchildren, Shaun Settles, Troy Settles, Carisa Sullivan, Nathan Settles, and Eric Settles; great-grandchildren, Abigail, Alyssa, Anna, Austin, Ethan, Fredderick, Gilbert, Kelsey, Kyle, Sidney, Tala, and Tanner.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
