Peggy Ilene Stiver, 76, Mitchell

Peggy Ilene Stiver, 76, of Mitchell, was called home by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at the Mitchell Care Center. Her funeral service will be held at 10am on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Jones Mortuary in Mitchell with Reverend Dr. Charles Richardson officiating. Interment will be at Mitchell Valley Cemetery. There is no visitation scheduled. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, any memorial in Peggy's honor be made in care of the Mitchell Public Library building fund. Online condolences may be left and memorial candles in Peggy's memory may be lit at www.jones-mortuary.com. Jones Mortuary in Mitchell is in charge of arrangements.

Peggy was born in Mitchell, NE to Joel and Josephine (Edwards) Casson on August 9, 1936. She was the past Honored Queen of Jobs Daughters Lyman Bethel 40. She graduated in 1954 and was a telephone operator and later a bookkeeper for several businesses.

Peggy married Frank Stiver on December 9, 1956 in Mitchell. She worked as a Doctors Assistant while in California. After moving home in 1963, she worked for Dr. Ohme and Dr. Hoagland as a receptionist, then as a bookkeeper for Brown Sheep Yarn Company. She worked for Dr. Mahan and Dr. Scott Van Noy as a dental receptionist.

Peggy loved all kinds of crafts; painting, sewing, ceramics and crocheting. She crocheted for a New York designer named Lily Chin. Lily sent the yarn and pattern and Peggy crocheted and returned it to her. She also loved to fish, travel and take care of her flowers gardens. She was an avid Husker fan.

Peggy is survived by her husband Frank of 56 years; sisters Gail and Joan; brother Rick, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her parents and grandparents preceded her in death.
