Community alerted of suspicious black pickup near local school
The Scottsbluff school district has alerted parents and neighboring districts of a man in a black pickup who was seen twice Thursday by students at Longfellow elementary school taking pictures or video of students.
Superintendent Rick Myles says the same group of girls reported seeing the vehicle near the school during the noon hour and then again at 2:15.
Myles says there was never any direct threat made to to students. But he says staff will be now try to get a license plate number or other information that would help identify the person if the vehicle is seen again near one of the schools.
Myles told KNEB News he thought it was better to be safe than sorry and alert the community through notes that went home with all students, messages to neighboring school districts, and alerts through the local media and social media.
