Memorial services for RICHARD A. MARTIN, 61, will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 10:30 am at Salem Congregational Church in Scottsbluff, Nebraska with Pastor Dale Brown officiating. Richard passed away on Sunday, October 20, in Scottsbluff. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made out to the family. Casual attire is requested. Richard Allen Martin was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on January 21, 1952 to Harold and Carolina (Harimon) Martin. He was baptized and confirmed at Salem Congregational Church. He was in 4-H and FFA, showing market beef at the Scotts Bluff County Fair. Richard graduated from Scottsbluff High School and Western Nebraska Community College. Richard played fast-pitch softball, racquetball, and handball winning the Nebraska State Champion handball tournament during his career. He also taught handball and racquetball. Rich married Pat Coplen on September 22, 1984 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. He was well-known for his mischievous grin and sense of humor.
Richard is survived by his wife, Pat; parents Harold and Carolina of Scottsbluff; cousin Marilyn Klein-Fisher of Scottsbluff; brothers Roger (Brenda) Martin of Scottsbluff and Russ (Linda) Martin of Grand Junction, Colorado; sister Sandra (Jim) Lunniss of Sidney, Nebraska; brother in-law Denny (Susan) Coplen of Fayetteville, North Carolina; brother in-law Tim Coplen (Nicki) Ratliff of Scottsbluff; sister in-law Sandy (Ed) Bordeaux of Lincoln, Nebraska and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by and infant sister, Linda, and by grandparents David and Katherine Martin and Alex and Eva Harimon. He will be missed by all.
