Elsie Schaaf, 90

Elsie Schaaf, 90, died Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Heritage Estates in Gering. Her funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 6, 2012 at the Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff, with Pastor Dale Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery here. Memorials in her name may be made to Prairie Haven Hospice or to the Salem Congregational Church. Friends who wish may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. and at the funeral service. Elsie was born May 20, 1922 at Bayard, Nebraska to David and Elizabeth (Weber) Rau. She was educated in the Bayard Public Schools. She married Reuben Schaaf on November 21, 1940 in Harrisburg, Nebraska. She and Reuben moved to Scottsbluff in 1946, and Elsie worked at various businesses and was employed at Baily's Town and Country Market for 27 years before retiring in 1991.
Elsie was a longtime member of the Salem Congregational Church, was a member of the Eagles Lodge Auxiliary and the Women's Bowling Association.

She is survived by her son Mark Schaaf of Scottsbluff.
Her parents, her husband Reuben, brothers Dave Rau, Con Rau and Vic Rau and sisters Agatha Hornbacher, Ida Kissler, Anna Kramer, Dollie Deines, Mollie Rokel and Millie Schaub preceded her in death.
