Over 700 served at 30th Thanskgiving in the Valley dinner

Over 700 people were served Thursday during the historic 30th year of the Thanksgiving in the Valley community dinner at the Guadalupe Center. Nearly 400 of the meals were delivered to homes by voluneer drivers whose routes were coordinated by Director Jill Allen and the Scottsbluff Volunteer Center. The dinner is sponsored by KNEB Radio, the Scottsbluff-Gering Soup Kitchen, and the Scottsbluff Kiwanis Club.

Head cook Randy Thruston has been involved in all but two of the twenty nine dinners. Thruston and his cooks prepared two dozen turkeys, and made the potatoes, stuffing and gravy, and special cranberry jello. Rural Morrill rancher Monty Flock also provided cornbread muffins made from scratch.

Well over 100 volunteers will be involved.

Many local businesses and organizations support the dinner by providing facilities or donations, including the Scottsbluff Elks Club, Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Allo Communications, Hiland Roberts Dairy, Ideal Linen, Northfield Retirement Communities, Marketing Consultants, Team Auto Center, Great Western Bank, Thrivent Financial, and St. Francis Episcopal Church.
