Carissa Smith named Monument BPW Woman of the Year

The Monument Business and Professional Women organization recently selected Carissa Smith as their Woman of the Year. Smith was nominated and selected based on her commitment to the community and involvement and leadership in numerous charitable organizations.

Carissa is currently employed as a secretary at Schank Roofing in Scottsbluff.

She currently serves as the Area Coordinator of Operation Christmas Child. Smith is also the organizer and chairperson of the Firefighter Ministry, which assists victims of house fires with motel stays, clothing, household items and necessary things to get them back on their feet. Carissa also assists her husband, Chris, with Diaper Depot, an organization that provides diapers for families in need.

Smith also served on the Scottsbluff Rural Fire Department for 10 years and the Scottsbluff Fire Department for 2 years.

She is a member of First Baptist Church, where she serves as a Sunday School teacher, member of the Board of Christian Education, Vacation Bible School, and Youth Leader.

Carissa has touched the lives of many families in need in the community over the years, and BPW members were pleased to award and honor her.
