David Angelo Cardona, 60, Mitchell

David Angelo Cardona, 60, of Mitchell passed away peacefully at his home in Mitchell Monday, November 19, 2012. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Mitchell with Father Thomas Gudipalli as celebrant. Interment will follow at the Mitchell Valley Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army National Guard. Visitation will be held between 1 and 5 PM Tuesday, November 20 at the Jones Mortuary in Mitchell. A Rosary will begin at 7 PM Tuesday, November 20 at St. Theresa Catholic Church. Memorials may be made to St. Theresa Catholic Church or the donor's choice. David was born May 17, 1952 to Jesse E. and Mary J. (Martin) Cardona in Chadron, Nebraska. On August 31, 1970 David married Deloris Salazar in Scottsbluff. David served in the United States Army from November 10, 1971 to November 3, 1973. He received his training at Fort Dix, New Jersey. David was in the Alpha company 3rd battalion 6th infantry. He received the following awards: National Defense Service Medal, Marksman, Firstclass M7, 98.81.millimeter and M113 apc drivers certificate. David ran a family owned business with his son, Klinton Cardona called Double Eagle Construction for 25 years. He also enjoyed spending time with friends and family, fishing, hunting, music, playing his guitar, and was an avid Nebraska football fan.

David is survived by his wife Deloris, children Klinton Cardona, Toni Cardona, Kelly Cardona, Marlena Cardona, father Jesse E. Cardona, grandchildren Damian San Miguel, Aaron De Los Santos, Mary San Miguel, Francisco Robles, brothers Joseph Fernandis, Patrick Cardona, Eli Cardona, Robert Cardona, sisters Christina (Cardona) Lovato, Linda (Cardona) Serda, Cathy (Cardona) Arellano.

He was preceded in death by his mother Mary J. Cardona.
