Broadway construction shifts ends Monday

The Broadway construction project in Scottsbluff has been in full swing starting with the curb and gutter replacement before the pavement overlay work begins. Public Works Director Mark Bohl says they are doing two block sections at a time, beginning with the east side of the street from 14th to 16th.

Bohl says they will be moving to the north end of the project at from 20th to 18th on Monday and work their way back back to the south. Bohl says when they return to the south end from 16th to 18th, they will be staggering from the east side of the street to the west side in order to allow separation between the construction areas to reduce traffic congestion.

Bohl says the system has been working very well so far, considering the amount of traffic on Broadway. He says they will delay removal of the stop lights at the intersections as long as possible, and will begin at 19th and then come back and remove 16th, leaving the two middle blocks to be removed last.
