WNCC considering major fundraising campaign
WNCC staff, Board and Foundation Board members Wednesday were briefed by a South Dakota consultant on how to organize a "Major Gifts" fundraising campaign.
No decisions were made on whether to move forward, but Rich Gross of the Clements Group will now conduct a feasibility study and bring a report back in a few months that would recommend priorities and set a goal in a two year campaign that would likely try to raise millions of dollars.
WNCC President Dr. Todd Holcomb says the college will be 50 years old and it has facility, program and other concerns that need to be addressed outside normal funding sources.
The plant facility improvements listed during Wednesday's presentation, taking inflation into account, were estimated at over $100 million. But Holcomb says the college is looking to do projects that get the "best bang for their buck."
He noted $11 million in deferred maintenance over the next three to five years could be part of a proposed renovation of the main building. It would include enlarging the performing arts area, combining administrative offices to the entrance area and a consolidation of academic services so it is more student friendly.
