Edith Jayne Haney, 87, Scottsbluff

Edith Jayne Haney, 87 of Scottsbluff, Nebraska passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Regional West Medical Center.

Her funeral service will be held on Monday, February 11, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Gering Memorial Chapel with Michael Boyd officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday February 10 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the chapel. Memorials may be given to Prairie Haven Hospice or the Scottsbluff Public Library.

Jayne was born January 8, 1926 in Gering to Ted and Edith (Curry) Johnson. She spent her first 3 months of school at Harrison, NE and the remaining schooling in Gering, graduating in 1943 from Gering High School. She met Chet Haney of Morrill after World War II and they were married January 10, 1947 in Denver, Colorado. They lived in Morrill, Mitchell, Laramie, WY, and Twin Falls, Idaho then returned to Scottsbluff in 1952. In 1953, purchased a Trucking Business that she helped her husband with for 27 years. She later worked at the "Golden Rule" for 6 years retiring in 1986.

She was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church in Scottsbluff.

Survivors include her grandson Herbie Burdges of Scottsbluff; daughter and son-in-law, Viki and Austin L. Scott; grandson Chet Scott, granddaughter Hillary Scott all of Gering, NE; brother Jack J. Johnson of Twin Falls, Idaho; sisters Marion Hanes of Yerington, NV and Lurye Muehlberger of Sun City West, AZ.

She was precede in death by her husband Chet, parents, daughter Rebecca Ann Burdges, sister Dorothy Ann LaQue and a brother Donnie Johnson.
