Millions in REAP Funds Awarded

Nearly 250 projects nationwide that are focused on helping agricultural producers and rural small businesses reduce energy consumption and costs - and use renewable energy technologies in their operations - are receiving USDA funding. Vilsack says USDA is partnering with thousands of farmers, ranchers and rural businesses to help them save energy and improve their bottom line as part of the President's all of the above energy strategy. He says the effort is helping to provide stable energy costs that create an environment for sustainable job growth in rural America.

The 16-million dollars in energy investments announced by USDA Friday is made available through the Rural Energy for America Program - or REAP. REAP offers financial assistance to farmers, ranchers and small businesses to purchase and install renewable energy systems and make energy-efficiency improvements.
