Richard D. "Dick" Strong, 80, Scottsbluff

Richard D. "Dick" Strong, 80, of Scottsbluff, passed away Friday, August 23, 2013 at the Western Nebraska Veteran's Home in Scottsbluff. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Scottsbluff with Fr. Stephen Deaver and Fr. Vince Parsons as Con-Celebrants. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place in accordance with Dick's wishes. Memorials may be made to the Lions Club or to St. Agnes Catholic Church. Dick was born January 22, 1933 in Hemingford to Fred and Marie (Tschacher) Strong. He attended Alliance High School. Dick went on to receive a degree in pharmacy from the University of Colorado. He served in the United States Air Force from 1952 until 1956.

Dick married Barbara Prillaman on Septmeber 7, 1960 in Boulder, Colorado. To this union four children were born, Stephanie, Jennie, Mike and Susan.

Dick worked as a pharmacist throughout the years at St. Mary's Hospital and Co-op Pharmacy. He and his wife owned and operated Strong's Pharmacy in Scottsbluff.

He enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, golfing and bowling. Dick was also a sports enthusiast and coached little league. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and the Lions Club. He valued his time spent with his family and is lovingly remembered for his great sense of humor and his sweet personality.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara, of Scottsbluff; children, Stephanie McGinley of Goodland, KS, Jennie (John) Wintz of Cincinnati, OH, Mike (Kim) Strong of Brownwood, TX and Susan Strong (Andrew) of Ft. Collins, CO; and nine grandchildren.

Preceding Dick in death were his parents; brother, Ed; and sister, Vivian.
