Karen Kay Banta, 68, Morrill

Karen Kay Banta, 68, of rural Morrill, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2013 at her home. Her graveside funeral service will be held at 10am on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Caldwell Cemetery. No visitation is scheduled. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of any flowers, memorials in Karen's memory be made in care of her grandchildren. Karen was born in Alliance on August 24, 1945 to Leslie Michael and Edna Christina (Popkay) Moyer. She returned home to the family ranch in Sioux County. She was the youngest of seven children. Karen was educated through the 8th grade in rural Sioux County and then graduated from Crawford High School. On June 7, 1964 she married Dale Elmer Banta at Crawford. To this union was born 3 children.

Karen lived her entire life in Sioux County and was at home on the family farm. She worked many outside jobs. Most recently was for the Torrington Community Hospital for nearly 22 years.

Karen enjoyed butterflies and sheep and many other animals on the farm. She was a tremendous influence on her family and friends. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her husband Dale Banta; children Becky Joy (Gary) Webster, Bradley James (Laurie) Banta and Byron Jake (Silvia) Banta; four grandsons; seven step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.

Her parents, 2 sisters, 2 brothers and an infant baby preceded her in death.
