Alex Heil, 97, Torrington
Funeral services for ALEX HEIL, 97, will be held at 1pm Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at the First Congregational Church with Reverend Rick Cederholm officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. Alex died October 18, 2012 at the Goshen Care Center. A memorial has been established to the First Congregation Church. Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday from 3pm to 7pm and the casket will be open briefly prior to the service at the church. Alex was born October 30, 1914 in Gering, Nebraska the son of Carl and Katherine (Fegler) Heil. He grew up and received his education there. He worked on farms in the area for a few years. He married Emma Heil in 1933. They moved to California where they picked fruit for a while before he started working as a welder in the shipyards during WWII. After the war was over they stayed in California for a short time before moving to the Huntley, Wyoming area where he farmed for many years. He retired in 1975 and worked at the sod farm for seven years. After the death of his first wife her married Wanda Loraine Fleming on January 31, 1995.
Alex was a member of the First Congregational Church where he served as deacon, trustee, and moderator, and was a major contributor when the church was first built. He enjoyed hunting arrowheads, fishing, and walking.
Alex is survived by two sons, Donald Heil and his wife Jean of Casper, Wyoming, and Gary Heil and his wife Sandy of Torrington, Wyoming; a daughter Peggy Alexa Hageman and her husband Roger of Ft. Collins, Colorado; a sister Irene Hauf of Torrington; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; both of his wives; two brothers, George and Carl; and three sisters, Emma, Hannah, and Esther.
