Kimball's new city administrator begins duties

Kimball's new city Administrator will have his 28th birthday in March, plans to be married this summer and comes from a community between Phoenix and Tucson that doubled its size in the last decade. Daniel Ortiz began his new position on Monday, succeeding Harold Farrar, who retired.

Ortiz, who worked in the Casa Grande city manager's office as a management analyst, says Kimball and Case Grande have a lot of similarities. Ortiz says Case Grande is a farming community with a main Union Pacific route that is a vital part of their economic engine.

Ortiz says the city manager he worked with in Arizona was a former city manager in Sterling, Colorado, and thought Kimball would be a good fit for him "both personally and professionally." Ortiz says development of the city's industrial park on the east side of the community is one of his priorities as he assumes the position.
