Floyd L. "Tom" Lackey, 82, Gering
Floyd L. "Tom" Lackey, 82, of Gering, died Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Don Mathis officiating. Military honors will be given by Nebraska Army National guard. Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Tom was born August 30, 1931 in Scottsbluff, NE to Floyd H. and Elva (Imus) Lackey. He received his education at North Highland, Nine Mile and Minatare High School. On April 10, 1952 he entered the U. S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict for 16 months. He received the Korean Service Medal with 2 bronze service stars, United Nations Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He married Geraldine Hays, June 28, 1952 in Petersburg, VA. Tom was honorably discharged from the Army March 18, 1954. Tom was employed as a self employed Farm Tractor repairman in Modesto, CA. He returned to Scottsbluff in 2001.
Tom is survived by his daughter, Loreen Baron, Scottsbluff; siblings, Inez Steele, Morrill, NE, Ron (Diane) Lackey, and Mary Holten all of Gering; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Geraldine, son Thomas Lackey, sisters: Leota McCune, Bertie Lopez, Myrel Howie and Judy Cole and brothers Leroy Lackey and Jerry Lackey.
