Monument Mall purchase on the horizon

An out of town development firm along with a group of local investors hope to have the purchase of the Monument Mall in Scottsbluff finalized by the end of the year.

Twin Cities Development Executive Director Rawnda Pierce told KNEB News the local investors would be a limited liability group that would have a percentage ownership in the Mall, but whose main purpose would be to have input on how the mall is developed. Pierce says because the main ownership group is from outside the area, the local investors would be their "eyes and the ears" on what's going on and help eliminate risk.

Pierce says the goal of the investment group is to add ten businesses in three years. Pierce says if that happens and you put something in the empty Wal-Mart space "that is a major improvement."

Pierce says it is also exciting because new development spurs additional development and investment in the community.
