Flags to be lowered half-staff
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) _ Gov. Dave Heineman is reminding Nebraskans to fly U.S. flags and Nebraska flags at half-staff until noon Monday.
Flags are to be lowered nationwide over the Memorial Day weekend to honor members of the U.S. military.
Heineman says Memorial Day is an opportunity to salute the heroes who have served the nation with honor and those who are serving today.
Monday is the official observance of Memorial Day. Heineman will not be making any public appears, but Lt. Gov. Rick Sheehy is scheduled to give remarks at a ceremony at Westlawn Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Omaha.
