KYS Foods plant progressing on schedule

Construction on a new $4.2 million plant for KYS foods is moving forward at the West Nebraska Regional Airport Industrial Park. The San Francisco food processing facility is moving to Scottsbluff and KYS Foods President KaiYen Mai says everything is on schedule for production to begin at the new location this September.

Mai says she will hire 20 employees in late July and August, and then training will take place to get the facility ready for operation.

Mai says the plant manager will come to Nebraska from San Francisco but a new assistant plant manager from Scottsbluff has already been hired.

KaiYen Mai is moving her family's pork and Asian beef jerky processing plant from San Francisco due to rising costs. Incentives offered by the state and local governments, and the fact developer Irv Rushall indicated he could build a plant within her budget were the main reasons she chose Scottsbluff.
