Eric & Cathy Vath say it is time to do something else

After forty years in the retail clothing business, most of them as the owners of the leading men's retail store in the region, Eric and Cathy Vath say it is time to do something else.

The Vaths say they plan to close their downtown store this fall after an inventory sale that begins on Monday. Eric says it is time to slow down, smell the roses, move to Lincoln, and spend time with their grandchildren. Vath's son, who is getting married in June, will stay here in Scottsbluff.

Vath says even after he closes the store and moves to Lincoln he will still do what he loves, only in a different way. Vath says he will have an online clothing service and he will have trunk shows a couple times a year in the Scottsbluff-gering area so he can serve his local customers.

Vath, who is known for his wonderful singing voice, says he would like to continue to be a cantor at one of the Lincoln churches. And the Vaths may be do a little traveling, even overseas to Italy and some other places in Europe.

Vath is projecting his inventory sale will be complete sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
