Completion of Bluffs "Quiet Zone" in hands of BNSF

Scottsbluff City Manager Rick Kuckkahn says implementation of the long awaited rail "quiet zone" is still up to Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad.

The city of Scottsbluff last year competed putting in medians at all the crossing and Kuckkahn says the only holdup now is installation by BNSF of electronics at the Avenue I crossing. Kuckkahn says he's hoping the railroad will get the job done in the next month, and no later than this summer, although they have not given him a timeline for when they will install the necessary equipment.

Kuckkahn says it has taken longer than expected to complete the project and he appreciates the patience of residents.
