United Way fundraising campaign kicked-off Thursday

"Building a Stronger Community" is the theme for the 2013-2014 United Way of Western Nebraska fundraising campaign. The agency Thursday annouced it's fundraising goal of $380,000. This year's Campaign co-chairs are Susan Wiedeman from Panhandle Coop and Danielle Wondercheck from CAPWN. Special Events co-chairs are Brady Shaul from Shaul Designs and Ruben Hernandez from Valley Bank & Trust.

Executive Director Steph Black says the hard work of individuals and businesses in the community are what make the United Way work so well here.

While the Pacesetter campaign kicked off Thursday, the public campaign really begins with the first big event, which is the annual "Duck Dash" in September. This year's Grand prize will be a yellow 2013 Chevrolet Camaro convertible.

Representatives of the 22 Pacesetters or Corporate Leaders will be going out to businesses to give presentations on making donations through payroll deductions.
