OTCF check will make playground possible

Infants and toddlers at Kids First Preschool and Child Care in Scottsbluff will enjoy an age appropriate playground thanks to a donation received Tuesday from the Oregon Trail Community Foundation.

In January of this year, Bobbi Neideffer, Director of Kids First presented the First United Methodist Church with idea of building a playground for infants and toddlers. Neideffer says they already have a great playground, but this one would be safe and age appropriate for 6 month olds to 2 year olds.

The new playground would be attached to the existing playground, but with a separate entrance. Neideffer says they would need to purchase the "Tot Tree" and the "Crawler Two" and some fencing. She says she picked those two items because the tree has several sensory items, the crawler has an enclosed slide, and both are great for children transitioning from crawling and walking.

They started with a Celebrating Home fundraiser. After that, a spaghetti feed, a scholastic book fair, pie in the face fundraiser, dinner and movie night, Dairy Queen night, and a Paparazzi Jewelry event. Many parents and church members also donated money to the playground. The fence is being built by 2 church members and they also received a Wal-Mart local store grant. The $2,000 donation from the Oregon Trail Community Foundation completed their fundraising efforts.
