Chair, Vice Chair resign following Morrill County Hospital Board vote
The Chair and vice-Chair of the Morrill County Hospital Board have resigned after the board voted Wednesday night to give the hospital's management group, Rural Health Development, sixty day notice that it plans to terminate their contract. Chair Nick Lapaseotes resigned shortly after the three to two vote was taken and Vice-Chair Richard Clarke resigned Friday. The two men were the two minority votes.
Clarke told KNEB News the unnamed board member who made the motion had "concerns about the results he was seeing" and the two other members who had reservations about the management firm when the contract began six months ago joined him.
Rural Health Development had been managing the hospital since January 1st. Clarke said it had been a "long drawn-out process" to get the management firm and he "personally felt it had been good for the facility". Clarke added they were "doing what they were asked to do and doing a good job" and the board's actions placed them back to where they were a year and a half ago.
RHD President Ron Ross told KNEB he "wishes the hospital the best" and felt they were "making progress in helping the board move forward". Ross said "the status quo is what they wanted and that is not us."
