Dennis Earl Price, Sr., 64, Melbeta

Dennis Earl Price, Sr., 64 of Melbeta, Nebraska passed away Sunday, June 23, 2013.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. (CST) at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Nebraska with Chaplain Gary Smith officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Air Force Honor Guard and North Platte Honor Guard. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Gering Memorial Chapel. Memorials may be given to the family to be designated at a later date. Tributes of sympathy may be left at Gering Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Dennis was born on December 14, 1948 in Cozad, Nebraska to Ivan and Dorothy (Chadwick) Price. He attended and graduated from Cozad High School. He entered the U.S. Air Force on February 10, 1970 and served during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged on February 8, 1974. He was a truck driver for Smith Systems for numerous years until health forced him to retire early. He married Tammy (Bullock) Smith on April 23, 1983 in Lexington and made their home in the Scottsbluff/Gering area. They later divorced in 2012, but remained close friends.

Dennis enjoyed bowling, fishing and driving his truck. He especially loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his children Dennis Jr. (Pam) Price of Minden, Daneen (Tom) Nelson of Lexington, Jerod (Carie) Thompson of Belle Vista, Arkansas and Gary (Amy) Smith of Gering; grandchildren: Johnny, Bobby and Dakota Price, Heather Peil (Brian), Ben Nelson (Tessa), Chayse Nelson; Nathan Thompson (Sara), Katyln Thompson (Scott), Nicholas Smith and Ashten Smith and great grandchildren: Haiden, Briella, Madison, and Grace; special friend, Tammy Price of Gering and several siblings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Crystal and grandson Jacob.
