Firefighters save rural Potter home

While a fast spreading fire Sunday destroyed a number of outbuildings at a rural Potter farm, equally fast acting firefighters were able to save the garage and two story home. High winds pushed the grass fire across pasture land, destroying a tree grove before moving onto the Mike Morgan farm, 13 miles northwest of Potter.

The Potter Volunteer Fire Department initially responded just after 1:30 Sunday afternoon, and were quickly joined through a mutual aid call by Dix, Dalton and Gurley as well as a number of neighbors who joined in the effort.

A barn and other structures on the farm were reportedly fully involved when firefighters arrived. Between the loss of trees, outbuildings and heat damage to the home, total damages were estimated to be around $40,000.
