Memorial services for MARTHA PATTON SHOEMAKER, 92 will be held at a later date. Martha died Saturday March 1, 2014 at the Platte County Memorial Nursing Home in Wheatland, Wyoming and cremation has taken place. Memorials in her honor can be made to the donor's choice. Martha was born November 29, 1921 in Wheatland, Wyoming the daughter of Washington Erwin and Mary Juanita (Moore) Patton. She grew up and received her education in Lingle, Wyoming where she graduated high school in 1939 and then attended two years at the University of Wyoming. She married Estel Lorain Shoemaker January 18, 1941. They moved to various Air Force bases until Lorain was sent over seas. After his discharge they returned to the farm near Veteran, Wyoming. Their son Stephen Estel Shoemaker was born February 18, 1951. They moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1956. Their son died March 17, 1972 and they moved back to the farm at Veteran. In 1994 they moved into Lingle, Wyoming.
Martha was a member of P.E.O. Chapter AU, a member of the Veteran Christmas Club, and a member of the Lingle Community Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed doing yard work and maintained her own lawnmower. She loved her two dogs and also enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting, and kept busy and was very content.
Martha is survived by two nieces Mary Bahmer of Guadalajara, Mexico, and Kelea Burns of Lingle, Wyoming; two nephews Patrick Patton of Casper, Wyoming and Dan Bahmer of Aurora, Colorado; and a sister-in-law Donna Mitchell of Veteran, Wyoming. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lorain Shoemaker; brother Dr. John E. Patton; sister Reverend Mary M. Bahmer; and two nephews William Bahmer and Bob Bahmer.
