Robert "Bob" Emil Faessler, 83, formerly of Bridgeport

Robert "Bob" Emil Faessler, 83 formerly of Bridgeport, Nebraska passed away Friday, November 8, 2013 at Western Nebraska Veterans Home in Scottsbluff.

His memorial service will be held Friday, November 15, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Church of Christ in Bridgeport with Pastor Jonathan Seng officiating. Interment will follow at Oregon Trail Memorial Cemetery with military honors by the U.S. Naval Funeral Guard and Sons of the American Legion. Cremation has been held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Prairie Haven Hospice or Morrill County Community Hospital. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.bbchapels.com. Bridgeport Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Bob was born December 7, 1929 at Bridgeport to Jacob and Elise (Kübler) Faessler and graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1947. He entered the US Navy on May 24, 1948 and served his Country during the Korean Conflict on the USS Gurke DD 783. He was honorably discharged October 19, 1951.

Bob farmed with his brothers John and Gary Faessler in the Bridgeport area. After retirement, Bob enjoyed traveling to Nevada and Colorado, where his sister lived. He loved planting a garden and did a super job with his tomatoes and his onions which had to be Walla Walla and other produce. Loving the outdoors, he took up and enjoyed golfing the Court House Jail Rock Course. He would be pretty proud of some of those hits. He also enjoyed and was a member of the local Eagles Club stopping in for his "Cherry Coke" and some good visits with friends. You could see him often driving the country side checking out the crops. He loved times spent at Family Gatherings visiting and playing cards with them. With Bob's failing health he entered a nursing home for 1 ½ years and then the VA home at Scottsbluff, where he spent 1 year and 10 months and is now resting peacefully in his Heavenly Home.

Bob will be greatly missed by his surviving family, brother Gary (Virginia) Faessler of Bridgeport; nieces and nephews, Cheryl Sanders of Cortez, CO, Randy (Terry) Faessler of Sidney, Marci (Tom) Paulsen, Susan (Jeff) Neeley, Bobbi (Kent) Wright, Kurt (Shauna) Faessler, Todd (Jan) Faessler, Bruce (Lori) Faessler, Richard Faessler all of Bridgeport, Ne, Craig (Teresa) Faessler of Denver, CO, Kirsten Faessler of Kearney, Tammy ( Monte) Dean, Corinne (Phil) DeCora of Broadwater and numerous great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Elsie and brother-in-law Harold Carlson and brothers Jake and John and sister-in-law Mary Jane and nephew Lynn Sanders.
