Operation Christmas Child big success

Over the past couple months, Operation Christmas Child has been collecting gift filled shoeboxes for needy children around the world full of toys, school supplies, hygiene items, hard candy, socks, ball caps. This year people have been especially generous.

Carissa Smith reports the final number of shoeboxes filled was 3,719. This is about 400 more than they had last year. Smith says they also ran out of cartons that we pack them in and had to scour the town for boxes.

A number of groups and individuals helped with packing and wrapping the items, including the Cirrus House, the retired teachers group and Miss Nebraska JaCee Pilkington. The WNCC soccer teams helped load the boxes.
