OTD special enforcement nets 8 DWIs

Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) Troop E- Scottsbluff took 8 impaired drivers off the road during special enforcement efforts held in conjunction with the annual Oregon Trail Days Celebration in Gering.

Special enforcement efforts held Friday & Saturday, July 13-14, involved NSP, the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff's Office, and the Gering Police Department. High visibility patrols and DUI checkpoints were conducted in an effort to reduce the potential for fatality crashes.

In addition to the 8 DWI arrests, there were 12 arrests for drug possession, 2 arrests for outstanding warrants, 9 citations issued for open container, 4 for driving under suspension, 6 for seatbelt violations, 1 for speeding, and 1 for minor in possession. A total of 69 citations and 19 warnings were issued.
