Dalton woman to serve prison time for extortion
A Dalton woman will serve one to three years in prison after entering a no contest plea regarding an extortion plot last September. Cheyenne County Attorney Paul Schaub says 30 year old Kristi Keenan was sentenced tuesday by Cheyenne County District Judge Derek Weimer after keenan had previously entered a no contest plea to theft by extortion.
Court documents indicate Keenan's actions occurred after 55 year old Jason Frei admitted he touched Keenan's seven year old daughter inappropriately while giving a massage to Keenan at his rural Potter home August 15th. According to the documents, once Keenan learned of the situation with her daughter, she tried to extort $20,000 from Frei through text messages in exchange for not telling Police about it.
The court documents indicate Frei told authorities prior to his arrest for the sexual assault that he had paid Keenan $10,000 of the money she had requested.
The documents say that Keenan had an extensive criminal history involving fraud and a felony conviction.
