Madeline Ardella Pool, 89 years of age, of Holdrege

Memorial Services for Madeline A. Pool will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. at Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastor Murray Jones officiating.  Inurnment will be held prior to the service at 12:30 p.m. at the Alma Cemetery at Alma, Nebraska.

Madeline Ardella Pool, 89 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2017, at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege.  Madeline was born January 15, 1928, on the family farm near Alma, the younger of two children born to Robert Alfred and Emma Louise (Casper) Ruhs. Madeline’s grandparents had come over to the United States from Germany. Madeline was baptized as an infant and then rededicated to the Lord, in the Skagit River near Mount Vernon, Washington on August 23, 1993.

She received her primary education from Prairie Dog Rural School District #8, south of Alma and then attended country school north of Republican City, Nebraska and graduated with the Alma High School Class of 1946.

On July 25, 1948, a very hot day, Madeline was united in marriage to Warren D. Pool at the parsonage in Ragan, Nebraska.  To this union six children were born, four boys and two girls:   Dennis, Michael, Patricia, Danny, Connie and Scott.  The family made their home in Alma, where Madeline concentrated on raising the children. Madeline and Warren later divorced.

Once the children grew older, Madeline worked at Becton Dickinson in Holdrege as an Inspector for 25 years.  She enjoyed tole painting, crocheting, embroidery and collecting angels. Her love for traveling took her many places, mostly in the Western United States, but she was able to see the Atlantic Ocean and Disney World in Florida.  She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Free Church, the Becton Dickinson Alumni Association, the ARC – For People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and the American Legion Auxiliary.  Madeline truly cherished her time spent with family and was so proud of her 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by, her parents; brother and sister-in-law:  Melvin and Vernietta (Trout) Ruhs; one grandson, Nathan Garcia;

She leaves to celebrate her life; her children:  Dennis Pool and his wife, Brenda of Omaha, Nebraska, Michael Pool of Lincoln, Nebraska, Patricia Garcia of Lincoln, Danny Pool of Bertrand, Nebraska, Connie Garcia and her husband, Tony of Mount Vernon, Washington and Scott Pool and his wife, Kathleen of Everett, Washington; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorial Book Signing will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

A memorial has been established in Madeline’s honor and kindly suggested to ARC – For People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
