A police officer in central Wyoming shot and killed an armed man who had earlier pointed a gun at several people and had led police on a car chase.
The incident in Casper began about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday and ended with the shooting at about 6:30 a.m.
The name of the man was not immediately released.
According to the Casper Police Department, police received emergency calls about a man pointing a gun at people before leaving in a vehicle.
When police found the vehicle, it sped away. But police were forced to break off the chase because of high speeds reached during the pursuit and the proximity to downtown Casper.
The suspect vehicle was then spotted at a convenience store where the shooting occurred.
