A U.S. Bankruptcy Court Wednesday approved the sale of Bon-Ton Stores Inc. to two liquidators, who have been ordered to commence going out of business sales Thursday at all of the firm’s stores, including the Herberger’s at Monument Mall in Scottsbluff.

The court says the stores must be closed no later than August 31st.

The court says gift cards or store credits can be used in the first ten days of the going out of business sales, but after that time there is no obligation for the stores to accept such customer credit. All sales will be final and there will be no returns.

The 260 stores being closed in 24 states is more stores than J.C. Penney and Macy’s combined closed last year.
