Curtis excited about new role as Mayor of Mitchell

Mitchell’s Mayor-elect says he is excited to work with the city’s new administrator and developing a plan to move the city forward.

Dave Curtis, the current council president, believes Mader’s experience in local government will help them develop a vision for the city moving forward.

Curtis said,”I know citizens might get nervous with a brand new Mayor and city administrator. But I think it is an exciting thing because can work together on a vision for the city and where we want to go. ”

Curtis says he knows as the newly elected mayor the city leadership  will need to talk with residents more about their ideas and possibly through grants make more property in the city available for renovation and purchase to entice business to the community.

Curtis told KNEB News he believes the current businesses can actually help train those entrepreneurs that are just starting out and want to locate in Mitchell.

Curtis Wednesday also recognized his opponents, noting all three candidates, himself, incumbent Brian Taylor and write-in candidate Paul Murrell, had solid support in the election.
