Gering Public Schools today announced that Gering High Principal Eldon Hubbard and Director of Student Services Barbara Ehrhart will both retire effective June 30th of next year 2019.
Hubbard has been an educator for 40 years his career starting in Clarkson, Nebraska where he served as a science teacher. He also taught in Milford and Gering Junior High before taking his first administrative position with Banner County Schools in 1992. Before being named Gering High School Principal, he also served as principal at Westmoor Elementary and an assistant high school principal with Scottsbluff Public Schools.
“Mr. Hubbard’s leadership and experience, both inside the district and outside the district, has moved our students and district forward,” said GPS Superintendent Bob Hastings. “Eldon has been a lifelong champion of all students and has impacted learning, our communication with our families, and our relationships with teachers and staff.”
Ehrhart began her teaching career as a special education teacher with ESU 13, and then taught at Gering and Mitchell schools. After completing her Education Specialist Degree in school psychology, she worked as a school psychologist for both Alliance and Gering public schools. In 2010 she became the director of Special Services in Goshen County, before returning to Gering as Director of Student services in 2014.
