Gonzalez gets 5 to 8 years in prison for attack on Henry man

A 30-year-old man from Kennewick, Washington has been sentenced to 5 to 8 years in prison for a vicious assault on a Henry man who lost his eye during a January attack at his residence.

Thomas Gonzalez received the sentences last month after pleading no contest to charges of 1st Degree Assault and Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person. He was given 5 to 8 years on both convictions, with the sentences to run concurrently to each other.

Gonzalez and Alfredo Flores were arrested back in January after the victim was found at the hospital in the intensive care unit. His eye had to be removed during surgery, and staples were used to close lacerations on his head. When investigators went to the scene in Henry, they found a hammer and a bloody shovel.

Investigators also found a firearm, a forged $100 bill, and evidence of methamphetamine and marijuana use.

Flores stood trial as well on similar charges, but was only found guilty on one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance, and was sentenced to 270 days in jail with 209 days credited for time already served.
