Kimball wind turbines project to be operational in Mid-June

The Project Manager for the new, larger Kimball wind mill project says they are still “commissioning” the turbines before hoping to begin operations in the middle of June.

The construction of a larger 30 megawatt capacity wind project in the same general area northwest of Kimball where a decommissioned wind project has existed in the past will triple the amount of power generated.

Gabriel Toste with Aspenall Energy, which owns the wind mills, says they are making sure each one of the twelve 2.5 megawatt turbines have working software before beginning operations.

The Municipal Energy Agency of Nebraska approved pursuing a 20-year power purchase agreement with Sandhills Energy last year to distribute the wind energy among its communities.
