Masterton: County would like to see united economic development effort

Scotts Bluff County Board Chair Mark Masterton says the Commissioners decided to drop out of the Western Nebraska Economic Development Group when it was time to pay the yearly dues.

Masterton says the commissioners feel the efforts by the regional group and the longstanding Twin Cities Development are redundant and decided to stay with TCD.  Masterton said his colleagues would like to see a more united effort in terms of economic development.

Masterton told KNEB News,” We’d like to see the economic development effort be unified, and not have one organization doing one thing and the other doing something else. It’s just that TCD had been there for years and they have led us well, and we just decided to stay with them.”

WNED was formed in 2015 at the recommendation of a consulting group who conducted a study on regional economic development for the city of Scottsbluff.
