Nebraska State College Board of Trustees hike tuition 7.5%

Friday the Nebraska State College System (NSCS) Board of Trustees approved 7.5% tuition increases for 2017-2018. Tuition will increase $12 per credit hour, bringing undergraduate resident rates from $160 per credit hour to $172 per credit hour at each college.

The hikes impact students attending Peru, Wayne and Chadron State Colleges.

A media release says the tuition hikes plus internal budget cuts were needed to make up a $2.8 million funding gap following the just completed legislative session. The release says the State College System faced increased costs for salaries, health insurance, utilities and other operating expenses.
