NSP investigating inmate death at Morrill County Jail

The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating the death of an inmate who died from an apparent hanging inside his cell at the Morrill County Jail.

Lt. Brian Eads tells KNEB News that 34-year-old Christopher Coleman was found in his cell Thursday afternoon. Coleman was taken to Morrill County Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Eads says that the NSP continues to investigate, and anytime a person dies while in custody, a grand jury is required to convene.

A message was left with Morrill County Attorney Travis Rodak on Friday afternoon for further details about this case.
