Public Power Districts work hard to restore power after blizzard

Wheatbelt Public Power District says they believe all residential customers should have power restored following Friday’s storm. In a Facebook post late Sunday afternoon, the Sidney based District said there my be short outages in the coming weeks as work continues on repairs. Panhandle Rural Electric, commonly known as PREMA, Chimney Rock Public Power and High West Energy all lending workers and equipment to help restore power.

NPPD reports Power was restored Sunday in two Nebraska communities where customers lost electricity Friday……..Butte with 240 customers and Atkinson with 903 customers. Nine customers remained without power in Ogallala. Crews will resume the work Monday morning. Material had to be transported Sunday from York to Ogallala. Materials could not be moved until Sunday due to I-80 being closed t traffic on Saturday.

During the course of this spring storm, NPPD saw approximately 4,900 customers without power at various times. Poor road conditions combined with blizzard conditions kept NPPD crews from completing the work Friday night and most of Saturday.
