Scotts Bluff County Democrats to caucus Saturday,  March 5th

The Scotts Bluff County Democratic Party will be holding its 2016 Democratic Presidential Caucus on Saturday, March 5th at the Terry Carpenter Center in Gering. The caucus will begin at 9:00 am and all registered Democrats wanting to participate must arrive by 9:00 am when the caucus convenes.

The purpose will award delegates to the County and State Democratic Conventions and select delegates to the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia who choose the Democratic nominee for President. County Caucus Leader Jeff Leanna says,“Delegates are awarded primarily through the caucus system and not in the Primary Election.”

Only registered Democrats are allowed to participate in the caucus. Voters can register to vote as a Democrat on the day of the caucus.

Absentee ballots are also available for those who are homebound, disabled, serving in the military, or a student. They can be printed from the website www.nebraskacaucus2016.org and are available in-person at 1906 Broadway in Scottsbluff.

Absentee ballots must be requested by February 24th and be returned by March 1st.
