Two arrested for bypassing Monument gate with stolen car, drugs

Two people who went around the gate at the Scotts Bluff National Monument without paying were arrested Wednesday evening at the top of the Summit Road on drug charges, motor vehicle theft, and other counts.

Court documents indicate the responding park ranger smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle, and called the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s office. A Deputy confirmed when he arrived that the vehicle was stolen.

37 year old Gabriel Goss and 21 year old Emerald Lamberth were arrested after a search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of cannisters containing marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a stolen purse and debit card later confirmed to belong to a woman from Hays, Kansas. Inside the purse was a container with 20 pills of a schedule 4 narcotic. There was no label or indication of a prescription on the bottle.

The two men face charges of possession of a controlled substance, motor vehicle theft, theft of a financial transaction device, possession of marijuana and other counts.
