Two hospitalized following four vehicle accident in Scottsbluff

Two people were taken to Regional West Medical Center following a four-vehicle accident shortly before noon in Scottsbluff.

Police say 81-year-old Dean Schneider of Gering was backing out of a parking space in the 1900 block of Broadway and struck a Chevy Aveo. Schneider continued in reverse westbound across Broadway and he struck a northbound vehicle driven by 19-year-old Katherine Martinez of Gering.

Schneider continued onto the sidewalk on the northwest corner of 19th and Broadway and drove over a yield to pedestrian sign and then struck an eastbound Ford Bronco in the 000 block of West 19th Street.

The accident caused the intersection of Broadway and West 19th Street to be blocked for approximately 45 minutes while the investigation was being conducted.

Two passengers in Martinez’ vehicle were taken to the hospital after complaining about pain. All involved vehicles were required to be towed from the scene.
