The Western Nebraska Community College men’s basketball team put five players in double figures in registering their 10th straight victory with an 103-85 win over Central Wyoming College Saturday afternoon in Riverton, Wyoming.
The Cougar men moved to 12-2 on the season to finish the first semester. The Cougars last lost back in the early part of November to fifth-ranked Salt Lake Community College. Since then, WNCC has reeled off 10 straight wins while scoring at least 100 points in seven of those 10 wins.
The Cougars built a 63-45 lead at halftime and busted open a close game. Djodje Dimitrijevic hit a 3-pointer for a 20-9 lead. WNCC pushed the lead to 31-16 on a Martin Roub trey followed by a 3-pointer by Jervay Green with 5:30 to play in the half for a 49-31 lead. WNCC would lead 63-45 at intermission.
The second half saw each team score 40 points. Central Wyoming made a comeback, cutting the lead to five points on several occasions, including 77-72. That was as close as they got as the Cougars quickly put the lead back to double digits.
