Here’s the recap of the doubleheader between Gering Platte Valley Companies and the Buckley Bombers.
Gering PVC 8, Buckley 6…Gering stretched their winning streak to three games with a win in the opener last night on the strength of a big six run fifth inning. Gering outhit Buckley 7-6 and both teams were a bit sloppy defensively committing 3 errors apiece.
At the plate for Gering, Dalton Scott went 2-2 and scored a run, Riley Schanaman finished 1-4 with three RBI, and Quinten Janacek had a two hit game with an RBI and a run scored.
Chris Palomo got the win tossing 4 innings with 8 strikeouts against just one walk. He allowed three earned runs. Mike Gutherless went three innings in relief and allowed three runs, although just one was earned.
Buckley 1, Gering PVC 0…Brayden Nichols tossed a one hitter that included 11 strikeouts for Buckley and he made a run in the first inning stand up, pitching the Bombers to a doubleheader split.
The only hit of the game for Gering came off the bat of Brent Barge and Dalton Scott was the tough luck losing pitcher. Scott worked six innings of four hit baseball, striking out six and walking just one. He was efficient throwing just 83 pitches in the outing.
Gering’s record now sits at 6-9 on the year.
The Gering juniors and seniors will play a doubleheader tomorrow on the road at North Platte.
