Pioneers to audition Anthem singers, introduce players, preview new ballpark

The season is rapidly approaching for the expansion Expedition League and the Western Nebraska Pioneers.

Opening night for the team will be Friday, May 25th and then their home opener at Oregon Trail Park Stadium will be the following Tuesday night, May 29th.

Team owner Chuck Heeman yesterday with another big announcement that involves National Anthem auditions and the opportunity for the public to get out and preview the brand new stadium and meet the players.

Here’s the press release from the Pioneers:

WHAT: The Western Nebraska Pioneers will prepare for the 2018 season by having local singers offer their renditions of the National Anthem. The Pioneers will fill all remaining Anthem singing slots at this event. Media and fans are also welcome to tour the new ballpark, meet Pioneers players and coaches, and more.

WHO: Pioneers owners Chuck & Mayra Heeman, Pioneers staff, coaches and players, aspiring singers.

WHY: Allow local singers to sing the National Anthem live at Pioneers games throughout the summer. Allow media to tour the new ballpark. Players and coaches will be available.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Community, baseball fans, general public is invited.

WHEN: Wednesday, May 23, 2018, 5-7 p.m.
